Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, which has a great difference with its little sisters: Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera and they are the distances. Its roads are very good and we can tour the island moving from one place to another with an hour of difference.
Its paradisiacal beaches and coves will not leave us indifferent and close to those crystalline waters we will find charming little villages, and several caves that will immerse us in the underground world of the Gimnesias islands, proclaiming themselves as the natural wonders par excellence.
The best months to travel to Mallorca and fully enjoy all its attractions would be the months of May, June, July, August and September. The rest of the months also have their charm but we will focus on the months where we can fully enjoy all its maximum activity.
Mallorca has many activities to do and charming places such as the Cathedral of Palma, the Bellver Castle, the Son Claret Castle, the Spanish Village, Deia, Alcudia, Valldemossa, Pollença or Fornalutx among others, but in this post we will focus on their beaches and coves and in the caves of Drach.
Beaches, coves of Mallorca
We have the most beautiful coves in Mallorca next to Palma, such as Cala Illetas. A beach with clear waters and many beach bars. Next to it is Cala Comtesa that has nothing to envy to the previous one. In the Monrágó Natural Park we have other beautiful coves such as the Sa Marador cove or the Mondragó cove. In the Sierra de la Tramuntana near Sóller, we can find the Deyá cove, or the Bayalbufar beach. Finally, one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca is Caló del Moro and Cala Llombard would be very close.
To the north of Mallorca we find the Mirador es Colomer with beautiful cliffs where we will arrive at Formentor Beach, which is one of the most important places to visit in Mallorca. Its bay of Pollenca and the bay of Alcudía will delight us.
You can still enjoy more beaches by going to Portavels, where there are three coves that can be explored on foot, such as Playa del Mago, Es Caló de Belladonna and Es Caló.
One of the most important beaches in Mallorca is Es Trenc beach. It is a huge beach with crystal clear waters, although the months of July and August are usually full of people.
Caves of Drach
The Drach caves are four large caves located in the municipality of Manacor. They are 25 meters deep and 1.2 km long.
They were explored in 1880 by MF Will and 1896 by EA Martel. They host an underground lake called Lago Martel, considered one of the largest underground lakes in the world and where they offer daily live classical music concerts. You can cross the lake by boat at the end of the concert.
