Santorini has a unique beauty due to its capital Fira, with white houses and blue doors located at the top of the cliff.
Traveling to the Greek islands means visiting a group of small volcanic islands located in the Aegean Sea, belonging to the Cyclades Islands. It also has a great nightlife.
Santorini history
Santorini was an island with a huge volcano whose caldera sank, and that is why it is now shaped like a half moon. In the west there is a cliff overlooking the caldera and its capital Fira. To the south of the island the sea progressively descends, making it an area of beaches with a special charm for being with dark sand.
Today there is what survived a great volcanic explosion that occurred 3,500 years ago that made a large part of the island disappear. The expelled ash darkened the atmosphere in such a way that the ecological disaster had repercussions throughout the world.
Hieroglyphs have been found in Egypt that tell of a cloud that devastated the land. It is even thought that it was the origin of the myth of Atlantis.
Beaches
The beaches of Kamari, Perivolos and Perissa are worth visiting. Nor should we miss the sunset from Oia, a town located in the north of the island. It has a very characteristic relief.
Life in blue and white
Santorini houses are characterized by their charm in their houses tinted in blue and white. Any corner has its brushstrokes in these colors.
