The best restaurant in the world, according to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants at its gala held on June 25 in Singapore is the Mirazur restaurant, run by Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco. This restaurant is located on the Cote D’Azur in Mentón, in the south-west of France and is also awarded 3 Michelin stars.
Since 2019 this gala has not been held again, since in 2020 The World’s 50 Best Restaurants decided not to celebrate it as an aid to restaurants affected by Covid 19. In 2021 it will be held this year in October.
This is the menu of the best restaurant in the world
Chef Mauro Colagreco’s cuisine is based on local products, most of which are grown in the garden of the restaurant itself on the beautiful Côte d’Azur.
And what are those local products? We can find citrus from the Riviera, saffron from Sospel, olive oil and lemons from Mentón, wild mushrooms from the interior, fruits and vegetables from the Vintimiglia market, prawns from San Remo or local fish.
This restaurant offers two menus. On the one hand we have the “Eveil des Sens” menu, which costs 160 euros and is only offered at meals from Thursday to Saturday and is not available in June, July, August and holidays. And on the other hand the “Mirazur Universe”, available all year for lunch and dinner, whose price reaches 260 euros.
The menu consists of 9 dishes and their availability depends on the time of year. These are some of the most outstanding recipes:
- Foie gras from the “Maison Mitteault” with elderflower
- Chauchas (green beans) with caviar sauce and the quarter
- Boiled egg, cauliflower muslin and smoked eel emulsion
- Bordighera squid with bagna cauda sauce
- Tortellini with almonds and smoked meat broth
- Monkfish, Jerusalem artichoke and Piedmont hazelnut
- Crab, almond foam and marigold flower
- Wild blackberries with lavender ice cream
